Frequently asked questions :
Q - How far is Lake Placid from The Inn?
A - Main Street begins in 8 1/2 miles.
Q - What kind of beds are in the rooms?
A - All rooms have two double beds with some having an additional twin. Often we have a family of five in a room. Most couples find the double bed wide enough for two and some like the luxury of having a second bed. If its a king size bed you desire, ask us and we will put the two doubles together for a huge bed!
Q - Do your rooms have private baths?
A - Yes, each room has its own bath. You can shower or relax in the tub. Robes and a hair dryer are provided as well as bath spa.
Q - Do you have non-smoking rooms?
A - Yes. All of our rooms are non-smoking and have been since we redecorated. For those with allergies, our rooms are kept pet free as well. The bedding is different in different rooms as is the decor. Some beds have feather tops while others have thick fiber tops or foam. We also have mattresses that are firm. We will try to match you up with your preference. All of the rooms contain both feather and fiber pillows. If you need an air filter or air conditioning let us know. We also have wool and non-wool blankets. Your allergies need not make you suffer here.
Q - Do you have a fireplace?
A - Yes. There is a large wood burning fireplace in the Living room, a gas fireplace in the Dining / Family room, an electric one in our Log Cabin room that gives a cozy glow even in the summer and our fire ring outside. We do have a bedroom with a fireplace. It is our golf theme room. Be certain to request room #3 if you would like it.
Q - Do you have a workout room?
A - We do not have a true fitness center, but there is room for exercising and enough equipment to keep you in shape.
Q - Do you have a kitchen for guests?
A - There is a separate kitchen for our guest to use. There is also a play room for young children connected to it. The inn has a commercial kitchen and we will be glad to help you with any of your needs if you wish to dine in.
Q - What kind of breakfast do you serve?
A - We try to accommodate our guests. There are always cereals to choose from including hot oatmeal in the winter, fruits, yogurt, a choice of juices and baked goods. We will make eggs the way you like them and have egg beaters as well. Our special scrambled eggs loaded with ham and cheese and our egg in a muffin are two of our guests favorites. We can make you French toast, Belgium waffles and pancakes. If you order apple pancakes expect them to be the best you've ever had. We are always open to new suggestions.
Q - What is included under "complementary"?
A - There are always sodas, juices, spring water, coffee and an array of teas.
If over 21 you may BYOB and we'll supply the wine glasses. There is always something to nibble on and after dinner you can usually find some kind of dessert available for those with a sweet tooth.
Q - Are you still a restaurant?
A - No. We serve breakfast only to our guests. Specific meals can be arranged by request. If you were a guest from the past and remember The Inn as a restaurant you might want to read our History Page.
Q - Do you have a pool?
A - No. I feel that sitting around a chlorine pool is not why you've chosen to come to the Adirondacks. Three miles from The Inn is the town beach, Lake Everest. It was chosen by President Bush to host the Earth Day celebration in April 2002. In addition there is a great swimming hole a mile away, a river to cool off in a few minutes away and a short hike that includes a pristine lake only a 2 mile drive. We do have a kiddie pool for the children's enjoyment.
